For Ikano Group (Family Office of the Kamprad Family) he headed the re-engineering of the Asset Management including Risk Management, Compliance as well as Middle and Back Office functionalities. Before that he worked as Chief Investment Officer Equities for CQS, a Hedge Fund in London building an integrated equity management platform. For ING Investment Management he led Fixed Income Global in The Hague and worked as Head of Portfolio Management of ING Private Capital Management in Luxemburg. Up to 2005 he was a Member of the Management Board of DekaBank being responsible for all Asset Management activities of DekaBank Group Frankfurt/Germany.

Dr. Mathis spent his academic life doing research and teaching at the Universität des Saarlandes/Germany and as Horstmann Fellow at Indiana University (USA). He authored and co-authored publications on capital market theory and worked as an honorary lecturer at the Campus of Finance of Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Umwelt in Nürtingen/Germany.
